Touting popular food brands and giving businesses in Jamaica an economic boost, the South Florida-based firm, GroceryList Jamaica firm, is taking online orders from island residents and diaspora-dwellers.

The company has a “same-day grocery delivery or pickup from local stores islandwide”.

The new service aids shoppers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Jamaica by utilising 150 local Jamaican stores and bringing business opportunities to the firms, located in the country’s 14 parishes.

Meat and seafood, beverages, dairy, eggs, a bakery and baking goods, produce, canned foods, breakfast, oils, spices, sauces and soup mixes, beauty supplies can be ordered. Other items include pharmaceuticals and even pet products are available through the service, which operates like other delivery apps.

Rory Richards, GroceryList CEO and co-founder, said “the idea was birthed after struggling to find a way to get the best food to my mother in Jamaica while she was ill, instead of sending money”.

Oliver Mair, Jamaica’s consul general to the Southern US, is recognising the economic pluses for businesses in Jamaica, while welcoming the year-old enterprise.

“We are so happy to support young entrepreneurial dreams, helping them become a reality,” said Mair, who added, “we are also excited about the prospects of more Jamaican jobs as the demand for local goods and services continues to grow”.

For his part, co-founder Jermain Morgan commented: “By going to GroceryList you can place your order and our network of shoppers will make the purchases and deliver them to the recipients.”

He explained that GroceryList’s digital service combines speed with excellent customer service saying that future company goals include “growth prospects” and philanthropic efforts addressing “food security and poverty alleviation throughout Jamaica”.

GroceryList can be visited at, and the GroceryList Jamaica app can be downloaded at Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store.
